DEAN QIULIN LI

Dean is a photographic medium artist who lives and works in Sydney. His works explore the nature of photography and its capacity to capture reality and its limits.

Starting with traditional documentary photography, Dean has delved deeper into the process of capturing reality and the liminal space that exists between reality and fiction in the photographic medium. This has become the driving force behind his artistic practice. Using the visual language of documentary photography, Dean reconstructs past events and memories in reality. He strives to blur the boundaries between reality and fiction, creating an immersive, open-ended viewing experience that evokes a collective memory and a shared resonance in the viewer.

Dean holds a Master of Art degree from the University of New South Wales Art and Design (COFA), and his works have been exhibited extensively in Sydney, Melbourne, and Canberra, receiving positive acclaim. Dean’s artistic achievements include awards from the Center for Contemporary Photography in Melbourne and a shortlisting in the Head On Photo Festival and the Australian Photo Award.
